Our History

e&s was established in 1962 by Bob Sinclair, who operated the business together with his wife Kaye. Today, e&s is one of Victoria's oldest family-owned specialist kitchen, bathroom and laundry retailers. It is run by brothers Rob and Mike Sinclair (pictured above) who both grew up in the business. Rob and Mike continuously strive to reach greater heights. It is this passion for innovation and improvement that has secured a place for e&s as a long time industry leader.

Visitors to one of our showrooms are treated to the finest displays of new technologies and trends. Regular revamps and renovations ensure all showrooms remain relevant and exciting to Victorian homeowners, architects, tradespeople, developers and designers. Our team of highly trained consultants are ready to help clients select the products best suited for their needs, from the world's best brands, without breaking the budget.

When e&s' Geelong store was purchased in March of 2003, it underwent the first stage of a major refit, with the addition of a 500 square metre cookware showroom at the rear of the existing store. In 2011, we relocated and expanded the Geelong showroom to the current site of Fagg's Mitre 10, located at 531 Moorabool Street, Geelong. The new 3,300 square metre showroom is the largest kitchen, bathroom and laundry showroom in Victoria, Australia.

In late 2004, the original store in Ashburton was given a face lift. This also heralded the introduction of the bathroom category to our portfolio of quality products. At the end of 2010, the Ashburton showroom relocated to a brand new 1,438 square metre space at the Chadstone HomePlus Homemaker Centre. The Ashburton store has since been transformed into a new commercial showroom, featuring a specialised range of products for commercial-only projects. It is also the location of e&s' head office, incorporating administration, payroll, marketing and purchasing departments.

In 2005 and 2008, we opened two new showrooms located in Blackburn and Essendon respectively. Both of these showrooms house two of the best displays of kitchen, bathroom and laundry products anywhere in Australia.

This was followed by the opening of our Moorabbin showroom in 2009. Displays of the latest products and appliances fill the showroom, making Moorabbin a spectacular exhibit.

A major milestone moment was marked for e&s when we officially acquired Elite Appliances in December 2014, along with their three showrooms located at Abbotsford, Hawthorn and Prahran.

Rob Sinclair, e&s Joint Managing Director with brother Mike, says “bringing the Elite Appliances group of stores into our current group seemed the most logical step for us, given the synergies that exist between the two groups and our desire to expand within Victoria”.

The three new stores have been rebranded in 2015 and are now part of the e&s family.

In November 2018, we said goodbye to our original Ashburton store and relocated Head Office to join our Warehouse and Clearance Centre location in Noble Park. Situated at the very front premise of 215 Browns Road and after extensive, amazing renovations our latest move also held foresight
